On 20 October 2026 (21:11 CEST) Leyline published patch 0.5.14 of the Guildrun demo and called it a bit special: it is the last regular patch for the demo. From now on the studio works only on the full game, a closed beta is coming, and the demo stays online, leaderboards included. Here is what the note says and what it leaves open. The previous update is in our article on patch 0.5.13.
The last regular patch
Fourteen weekly patches, from 0.5.1.718 on 23 July to 0.5.14 on 20 October, and before them six months of weekly alpha updates. The note says the demo stays available, so players can keep playing and climbing the leaderboards, and thanks them for the feedback, ideas and bug reports of the past months: in Leyline's words, "a lot of what's going into the full game came directly from you". Back in August (patch 0.5.6) the studio had written that it would still keep an eye on bugs and balance while shifting its work to the full version; now no regular patches are planned for the demo.
Closed beta and a 3-act structure
The note announces a closed beta, coming soon, with more details in an upcoming announcement. Until then Leyline needs to build a solid foundation, so that once the beta starts the game can be improved and balanced together with the players on the new 3-act structure. The demo has two acts: Act 1 and Act 2, each with its boss, then Endless (see our guide to Guildrun). To be among the first to hear about the beta, Leyline asks to wishlist and follow Guildrun on Steam and to join its Discord, where beta news will land first.
What we knew already from the official FAQ (12 August): the full game is aimed at the first half of 2027, without Early Access; the demo would stay online for a while, after which development would move to a beta branch on Discord; progress made in the demo (metaprogression, difficulty unlocks and hero mastery stars) is meant to carry over to the full game.
Leaderboards reset on Tuesdays
One general change: the leaderboards now reset automatically on Tuesdays at 7pm CEST. Until now the Merged and SSS leaderboards reset with each weekly patch, and the Red Rift one weekly since patch 0.5.4 (11 August). Without regular patches, the reset gets a clock of its own. Details in our guide to the demo.
Bug fixes
- Combining Rush and interval triggers (every X seconds) could skip the last tick: fixed.
- ⭐ Fiona's The Lustrous now applies the correct amount of Burn when used from the reserve.
- The Duelist's Ranger rank modifier bonus is now displayed correctly during the placement phase.
- Getting Stunned stopped the countdown of the Immunity and Stealth timers, a visual issue: fixed.
- ⭐ The Act 1 Demon now applies its shield properly and no longer applies it a second time after reaching 0 HP.
⭐ marks community suggestions, as in every note. Rush, Stall and the other keywords are in our guide to the patch notes.
What we don't know yet
- When the closed beta starts and who gets in: the note says only "soon" and promises an announcement.
- Whether the demo will get hotfixes after this patch: the note rules out regular patches, not fixes.
- What the third act contains: the note names the structure, nothing else.
