On 20 July 2026 Leyline sent out a second press release, four days after the reveal: Guildrun had passed 100,000 wishlists on Steam in less than four days. In the studio's words, "we have yet to process what happened". Here are the numbers, those of the following week, and what they say about the release.
The numbers of 20 July
From the press release (Munich, 20 July 2026):
- more than 100,000 wishlists on Steam, less than four days after the announcement;
- more than 10,000 peak concurrent players in the demo during its opening weekend;
- a 95% "Very Positive" rating on Steam;
- the demo is the #1 trending demo on Steam.
The release repeats how the game was built: with an alpha community that grew from the earliest version and received updates several times a week, up to the demo launch. We told that story in our article on the announcement.
Three days later: 200,000 players and 2 million runs
The first demo patch, 0.5.1.718 of 23 July, adds Leyline's own count: more than 200,000 people had played the demo, which became the #1 demo on Steam one day after release, and Aleco, the lead designer, wrote that the game was closing in on 2 million completed runs in its first week. The same note explains that the Merged and SSS leaderboards reset with every weekly update, while the Red Rift leaderboard stays longer, as a seasonal feature. More on the leaderboards in our guide to the demo.
Update of 28 July: 275,000 players, four hours median
Update of 28 July 2026. The GameDiscoverCo newsletter published a profile of Guildrun with Steam demo statistics provided by Leyline, as of 27 July: more than 275,000 players, a median playtime of 3 hours 55 minutes and 25% of players already past 10 hours. The newsletter also reports about 230,000 wishlists and, from its own charts, 14,000 concurrent players, first among unreleased Steam demos. These are the developer's figures as reported by the press, not Steam data we can check. The same piece says that six people work full time on the game, besides the two founders and freelancers.
Release window
The 20 July release says the full game is scheduled to launch on Steam in 2027 and, in the studio boilerplate, in the first half of 2027. The 16 July release still said late 2026. The official FAQ on the Steam forum (12 August) confirms the first half of 2027 and adds that there will be no Early Access. The price has not been announced.
What we don't know yet
- Steam does not publish wishlist counts: 100,000 and 230,000 are Leyline's numbers, the second one as reported by GameDiscoverCo.
- Whether "95% Very Positive" refers to all reviews or to the recent ones: the release does not say. On 23 October 2026 the Steam page shows 90% positive out of 1,531 reviews in English.
